State Government To Launch Aadhaar Seeding Under Digital India Land Records Moderniization Programme On A Consent Basis
The West Bengal Government has announced plans to initiate Aadhaar seeding of land records on a voluntary consent basis under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). The initiative aims to improve the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of land record management while ensuring that the process remains citizen-centric and consent-driven.
Under the proposed framework, landowners will have the option to link their Aadhaar details with land records to help streamline property identification and ownership verification. The move is expected to reduce discrepancies in land databases, minimize duplication of records, and facilitate the creation of a more reliable digital land management system.
Officials believe that Aadhaar-linked land records can help accelerate the digitization process by enabling faster verification of ownership details during property transactions, inheritance claims, and government service delivery.
