Jsw Steel Begins Work On Mega Greenfield Project

JSW Steel has officially commenced construction of its massive greenfield integrated steel plant at Paradip, Odisha, marking one of the company's largest industrial investments to date. The project will be developed with a planned investment of ₹65,000 crore and a production capacity of 13.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Spread across nearly 2,950 acres, the integrated steel complex is strategically located along Odisha's coastline, offering direct access to Paradip Port, efficient raw material supply chains, and strong logistics connectivity for both domestic and export markets. The project will be executed in multiple phases over the coming years.

The project commencement ceremony was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, senior state government officials, and JSW Group leadership. Construction has begun ahead of the earlier planned timeline, with work also initiated on key supporting facilities, including the blast furnace, coke oven, steel melting shop, sinter plant, and captive port infrastructure.

Once operational, the steel plant is expected to significantly boost Odisha's industrial ecosystem by generating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities while strengthening India's domestic steel manufacturing capacity. The facility is also expected to support downstream industries and enhance the state's position as a leading steel production hub.

The mega investment reflects JSW Steel's long-term expansion strategy and aligns with India's vision of becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse. Upon completion, the Paradip facility is expected to play a crucial role in meeting rising domestic demand while increasing the country's competitiveness in global steel exports.
