Mumbai To Get India's First Seven-star Floating Hotel

Mumbai is set to host India's first proposed seven-star floating luxury hotel as part of a landmark waterfront redevelopment project near Nariman Point. The ambitious proposal, submitted by Rashmi Developments Private Limited, has crossed an important milestone after receiving a recommendation for Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority. The project still requires environmental and statutory approvals before construction can begin.

The floating hotel is planned to be anchored around two nautical miles off Nariman Point and will feature 520 luxury rooms, a 1,530-seat theatre, fine-dining restaurants, luxury lounges, entertainment zones, and premium hospitality services. Guests are expected to arrive via speedboats, helicopters, or seaplanes, offering a unique luxury experience.

Beyond the floating hotel, the waterfront development will include a modern marina, yacht club, executive lounges, conference facilities, art galleries, exhibition spaces, premium retail outlets, cafés, restaurants, and serviced apartments. The project also proposes a helipad, seaplane facilities, and infrastructure for future VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft.

A key objective of the redevelopment is to promote water-based transportation as an alternative to Mumbai's congested roads and suburban rail network. The integrated marina and inland water transport terminal are expected to improve connectivity while enhancing tourism and public access to Mumbai's coastline.

If approved and completed, the project will become one of India's most iconic waterfront developments, transforming Mumbai's skyline with a world-class floating hospitality destination while boosting tourism, luxury infrastructure, and marine transport in the country's financial capital.
