Delhi to build a giant 35-meter observation wheel similar to the London Eye to boost tourism
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has unveiled plans to develop the 'Delhi Eye', a 35-metre-tall observation wheel inspired by the London Eye, aiming to create a landmark tourist attraction in the national capital. The project will be developed at Mayur Vihar District Centre on a 3.84-acre site through a public-private partnership.
Designed to offer 360-degree panoramic views of Delhi's skyline, the observation wheel will feature modern enclosed cabins and is expected to become a major recreational destination for both residents and tourists. The DDA has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from private firms to develop, operate, and maintain the project under a 55-year licence model.
Along with the observation wheel, the site may include additional entertainment and commercial facilities to enhance the visitor experience. Once completed, the Delhi Eye is expected to strengthen Delhi's tourism infrastructure and emerge as one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
