Micromax starts manufacturing enterprise SSDs in Noida
Micromax Informatics, through its joint venture MiPhi Semiconductors with Taiwan's Phison Electronics, has started manufacturing enterprise-grade Solid State Drives (SSDs) at its Noida facility. The milestone makes MiPhi the first Indian company to locally design and manufacture enterprise SSDs, strengthening India's semiconductor and data storage ecosystem.
Enterprise SSD technology is currently mastered by only a handful of global companies. The Noida facility will cater to the rapidly growing demand from AI, cloud computing, hyperscale data centres, and enterprise servers, reducing India's dependence on imported high-performance storage solutions. The venture is targeting ₹1,000 crore in revenue during its first year of operations while planning a significant expansion in manufacturing capacity.
The initiative aligns with the 'Make in India' vision and is expected to accelerate domestic semiconductor manufacturing, strengthen India's digital infrastructure, and position the country as a key player in advanced memory storage technologies.
