Israeli defence company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is in talks with Indian defence companies to set up a production line for Iron Dome Tamir interceptor missiles in India
Israeli defence major Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is in discussions with several Indian defence companies to establish a production line for Tamir interceptor missiles, the key interceptor used in the Iron Dome air defence system. The proposed facility would primarily support global export orders while helping meet Israel's growing operational requirements amid rising worldwide demand for missile defence systems.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the 'Make in India' programme by expanding domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and integrating Indian firms into Rafael's global supply chain. The company is exploring partnerships with private-sector manufacturers, although no final agreement or production partner has been officially announced.
If finalised, the project would further deepen the strategic defence partnership between India and Israel, enhance technology collaboration, and position India as an important manufacturing hub for advanced missile systems serving both domestic and international markets.
